Instrumento CLASP (Chromospheric Lyman-Alpha SpectroPolarimeter), lanzado el 3 de septiembre de 2015 en un cohete suborbital de la NASA desde el Campo de Misiles de Arenas Blancas (Nuevo México, Estados Unidos). Midió por primera vez la polarización de la radiación ultravioleta del Sol en las líneas Lyman-alfa del hidrógeno y del Si III a 1206 Angstromsm, que proporciona información sobre el campo magnético y geometría del plasma en la enigmática región de transición entre la cromosfera y corona del Sol. El instrumento realizó las observaciones por encima de 150 km de altura, donde dicha radiación ultravioleta comienza a ser medible, mientras ascendía hasta 300 kilómetros de altura siguiendo una trayectoria parabólica. Los cuatro centros de investigación responsables de esta misión son NAOJ, NASA/MSFC, IAS y el IAC.

Expedition 29 Launches to the Space Station


Expedition 29 Soyuz Commander Anton Shkaplerov, NASA Flight Engineer Dan Burbank and Russian Flight Engineer Anatoly Ivanishin launched on the Russian Soyuz TMA-22 spacecraft on November 14, 2011, (November 13 in the United States) from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan to begin a two-day journey to the International Space Station. The trio will dock to the station on November 15, U.S. time, to start a five and a half month tour on the complex, joining station Commander Mike Fossum of NASA, Russian Flight Engineer Sergei Volkov and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency Flight Engineer Satoshi Furukawa, who have been on the outpost since June. more
